Lectus Press · A classroom reader
Edited by Charles A. Firneno and Charles Firneno — a father and son
Nineteen readings that let one classroom hold Latin, Greek, rhetoric and citizenship together: the original on the left page, English on the right, and the question Cicero never stopped asking — what does a free people owe to persuasion?
The sample is an extract of 25 pages, not the full book.
For professors and teachers
If you teach Latin, Greek, rhetoric or civics and are willing to send us private feedback, we will send you the full book in digital form at no cost, subject to the publisher's approval. We do not ask for a positive review, a public endorsement, or a course adoption — only your honest notes, sent privately.
Nineteen readings in three parts, each in the original with facing English.
Cicero's Civics: Speaking and Listening, from the Republic to Today. The complete sixteen-week independent-study proposal includes readings, assignments, assessment weights, supervision and approval signatures. Equivalent school credit requires school approval. Some assigned works extend beyond the anthology and require separate access.
