Il sommo Creator gli occhi rivolse
al giusto lamentar del vecchio Carlo;
e con subita pioggia il fuoco tolse:
né forse uman saper potea smorzarlo.
Savio chiunque a Dio sempre si volse;
ch'altri non poté mai meglio aiutarlo.
Ben dal devoto re fu conosciuto,
